Hendry County is a county located in Florida, United States. This county whose county seat is La Belle, Florida has an estimated population of 39,611 as of 2007. Hendry County was created in May 11, 1923 and was named for Major Francis A. Hendry who was one of the first settlers in the county.

Hendry County forms part of the Clewiston, Florida, Micropolitan Statistical Area and has a total area of 1,190 square miles. It is bordered by Glades County, Florida to the north; Martin County, Florida to the northeast; Okeechobee County, Florida to the northeast; Palm Beach County, Florida to the east; Broward County, Florida to the southeast; Collier County, Florida to the south; Lee County, Florida to the west, and; Charlotte County, Florida to the west. This county is is composed of the following communities: Clewiston; Harlem; LaBelle; Port La Belle, and; Felda.

This rural county features a blend of a historic grandeur and contemporary charm. Essentially, it promotes Big Cypress, home of Big Cypress Seminole Reservation, Clewiston which is also called “America’s sweetest town”, and La Belle. The Big Cypress Seminole Reservation is the largest Native American reservation in Florida and is the home to the largest concentration of the unconquered Seminole tribe. Big Cypress features Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, Billie Swamp Safari, and Seminole Tribe Motocross Park. Clewiston boasts of thousands of acres of sugar cane fields and is famous for its great bass fishing and spectacular wildlife viewing.
