Idaho is a state located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It officially became the 43rd state of the United States on July 3, 1890. Idaho is a mountainous state larger than England. It is surrounded by the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and the Canadian Province. The state’s largest city and its capital is Boise which is also the most populous city of Idaho covering a population.

Idaho is also known as the Gem State because of its myriad of beautiful natural areas as well as abounding natural resources such as gem stones. This rocky mountain state was inhibited approximately 15 thousand years ago and archeological excavations brought light to some of the oldest artifacts found in North America. Today Idaho’s economy is supported by mining and every known gem is found in this state alone. Its economy then moved towards tourism, agriculture, and just recently shifted to science and technology. Agriculture and mining, however, remains to be the main focus in this state.

Idaho’s economy plays a major role in the US as it still remains as an important agricultural center with lots of industries such as lumber production, silver mining, food processing, chemical industry, and electronics. Idaho is well known for its cheese production because of its Gooding barrel cheese factory, one of the largest cheese factories in the world. Furthermore, Idaho produces more cheese grown in the United States of America.

Idaho is also known as a pretty conservative state due to its large community of Mormons in the south. Idaho is impressively a big state with lots of things to see and do here. Idaho’s motto “Esto Perpetua” which means “let it be forever”.
